Our History
Our Agency began to operate sometime during the year of 1909 by our grandfather and our great grandfather Tomas Ruiz Larrauri

1909-1920
The first years were very exciting on Account of the Transistmic corridor which consisted on a 300 km long rail track between Coatzacoalcos in the Gulf of Mexico and Salina Cruz in the Pacific Ocean. This corridor lasted until 1914, when Panama Canal commenced and in our country commenced a bloody revolution that lasted until early 20s

1920-1946
Also the oil industry commenced to operate in this region with a refinery in Minatitlan. Vessels navigated approximately 25miles up the Coatzacoalcos River to the refinery. The trade during the years 20, 30 and 40 was very limited due to the First World War, the period known as the “Appeasement” and finally the Second World War that commenced in 1939 and finished around 1945.

1946
It is after the end of the Second World War in 1946 that the international trade restarts together with the maritime transportation. Our country’s economy right after the Second World War was primary with mostly agricultural products, non-existing industry, and lack of or short of infrastructure, such as rail tracks, highways, etc. However, beginning 1946 Mexico started to expand and modernize its activities.

1946-1970
Smith & Johnson, a shipping company stationed in New Orleans, started new services on the Gulf of Mexico, the Port were New Orleans,Tampico, and Corpus Christi. This trade represented the first Short Sea System in the world. Coatzacoalcos traded coffee, cocoa, bananas, pepper, sugar, honey, etc. This trade lasted until the early 70ties when the container system entered to operate. Above required to call the least of port possible so all cargoes were concentrated in Veracruz.

1974
In August of 1974, Petroleos Mexicanos commenced exporting crude oil after many years. From this year and until approximately 2005/2010 or so we lived a period known as the boom years, when crude production/exports duplicated year after year. In addition to above, the ports of Pajaritos and Dos Bocas plus the offshore installations located in the Bay of Campeche were installed
Economic Growth
At the same time in 1946, most of the countries economies were also weak, however, an American Shipping Company from New Orleans, Smith + Johnson established a maritime route through most of the Gulf ports with Liberty Type vessels bought to the US Government. The Line was named Mexican Line. Also, in the early 50ties various companies started to exploit Sulphur mines located in the area, Coatzacoalcos began to operate cargoes of Sulphur in bulk and after some years in liquid
